2007 Annual Report and Reference Guide

Advance art. Change is one constant in a healthcare executive's professional life. As your professional organization, ACHE recognizes changing technology and processes and also evaluates and develops programs and services to better serve you, our affiliates.

New Credentialing System Begins
ACHE’s mission focuses on our commitment to improving healthcare management excellence. Therefore, encouraging healthcare executives to become board certified in healthcare management as ACHE Fellows is critical to this mission. Leaders with the FACHE® credential demonstrate their personal commitment to excellence, ethical decision making and ongoing professional development, as well as advancing the progress of the healthcare management profession.

ACHE encourages all healthcare executives to become board certified, strengthening healthcare management excellence for the future.

Chapter Growth Gains Momentum
ACHE’s chapter strategy is designed to increase value for ACHE affiliates by supporting independent chapters in delivering convenient, close-to-home education, networking and career development services. In 2006 local ACHE chapters held more than 450 local networking and educational events, a 46 percent increase from the previous year. Those events were attended by more than 20,000 participants, a 42 percent increase.

ACHE also expanded a chapter’s option to provide Category I (ACHE education) credits, with 17 programs, two of which include video components. And, in the coming years, a common membership structure will result in increasing affiliate involvement in chapters.

Stay Current With Education Programs
As an executive, you know the importance of staying current on healthcare management trends and issues. ACHE’s seminars offered at Cluster programs provide you with resources and tools to give you and your organization an edge in the changing healthcare environment. Each in-depth seminar, worth 12 Category I (ACHE education) credits, is held in a small class setting and led by expert faculty.

ACHE continues to offer a full range of distance learning programs that include audio conferences, webinars and self-study courses, and the annual Congress on Healthcare Leadership continues to be the premier education event in our profession.

Commitment to Ethics
As a healthcare executive, you and your organization regularly face a broad range of ethical conflicts or questions. How you address these ethical conflicts reflects both your personal values and those of your organization. ACHE continually strives to provide affiliates with tools and resources to create an ethics-focused culture. Adding to the ethics toolkit on ache.org and the ethics column in Healthcare Executive, this year ACHE added an ethics template, including a video component, to the Category I (ACHE education) program options for chapters.

ACHE understands what affiliates value and provides quality programs and services, including mentoring and networking opportunities and top-notch education programs.
