Entries
for the competition will only
be accepted via e-mail. All
entries should be submitted
by the academic program
director to EssayEntries@ache.org. Entries
are due by December 9, 2011.
After selecting
one entry to represent the
school's program, the academic
program director should send
an e-mail message to EssayEntries@ache.org with
the following information:
- An
affirmation that the attached
essay has been chosen to officially represent
the academic program in the 2012 Richard J. Stull Essay Competition in Healthcare
Management
- Indication
of whether the entry is submitted
to the graduate or undergraduate
division of the competition
- Complete,
official name of the health administration
program
- Name
of the college or university
- Title
of the essay
- Name
of the student (first name, middle
initial or name, last name)
We urge program directors to be accurate when providing the above information, as ACHE will use the information provided to create awards and announcements.
In addition to providing the above information, the academic program director should attach two copies of the entry. The attachments should be in a format that is compatible with MS Word 6.0/95 (or higher). Most word processing programs are compatible with this format.
The attachments should be named “AUTHOR.DOC” and “NO AUTHOR.DOC.” The document with identifying author information will be used for ACHE’s internal records, while the document without author information will be sent to judges for review. Both documents should contain the executive summary and all applicable figures, tables and references.
The
AUTHOR version of the essay should include
a title page with the essay title, the
author’s name, and the name of the school
and program. The NO AUTHOR version should
exclude any information that identifies
the author, the school or the program.
To this end, references such as “Personal
Interview, University of Iowa Hospitals
and Clinics, Iowa City, Iowa” should
be eliminated. (Instead fill the reference
space with asterisks: “Personal Interview,
University of *******, *******,****.”)
Also, all identifying information found
in the Microsoft Word File/Properties/Summary
tab should be removed (such as author,
manager and company).
Entries are due by December 9, 2011. Receipt
of all submissions will be promptly
acknowledged. Any questions concerning
electronic submissions should be directed
to dryan@ache.org.
