FUNDS AUPHA-ACHE
PEDAGOGY IN HEALTHCARE MANAGEMENT PROJECT
CHICAGO,
January 9, 2004—The American College of Healthcare
Executives has announced that it will fund a project for pedagogy
enhancement in health administration education. Commencing
major activity in January 2004 and concluding at the end of
the year, the project is a joint initiative resulting from
a long-standing partnership between ACHE and the Association
of University Programs in Health Administration.
Recognizing
the need to continue to improve the curriculum of programs
that prepare future healthcare leaders, the Pedagogy Enhancement
Project on Leadership Skills for Healthcare Management will
focus on the leadership knowledge and skills needed by graduates
of health administration programs. The work group will be
chaired by Diana Hilberman, Dr.P.H., incoming chair of AUPHA,
and will include both academics and healthcare management
practitioners. This project will identify key leadership needs
for entry-level leaders in the healthcare system. Based on
these identified needs, the work group will then develop organization
and leadership curriculum materials and pilot test the materials
in selected AUPHA programs. Successful teaching materials
with
instructor's guides will be disseminated to AUPHA program
faculty and other relevant professionals via a Web site.
