KENNETH
R. WHITE, Ph.D., R.N., FACHE, ELECTED TO AMERICAN COLLEGE
OF HEALTHCARE EXECUTIVES BOARD OF GOVERNORS
CHICAGO,
February 28, 2004—Kenneth
R. White, Ph.D., R.N., FACHE, associate professor and director,
Graduate Program in Health Administration, Virginia Commonwealth
University, Richmond, has been elected to serve on the Board
of Governors of the American College of Healthcare Executives,
an international professional society of 30,000 healthcare
executives.
White
took office today at the Council of Regents Meeting during
ACHE's 47th Congress on Healthcare Management at the Hyatt
Regency Chicago. He will serve a three-year term representing
ACHE affiliates on ACHE's Board of Governors, the authority
that oversees ACHE operations and member services.
After
joining the Virginia Commonwealth University faculty in 1993,
White served in positions of increasing responsibility, including
instructor and assistant director, Professional Graduate Programs
in Health Administration; director, Executive Fellowship in
Health Systems; and associate professor of Nursing, Department
of Integrative Systems. He assumed his current position as
associate professor and director, Graduate Program in Health
Administration, in 2001.
From
1989 to 1993, White served as senior administrative consultant
for Mercy International Health Services in Farmington Hills,
MI. From 1987 to 1989, he was vice president of Oklahoma City-based
Mercy Health Center, where he also held administrative positions
between 1980 and 1986. White was vice president of Operations
at Harris Methodist Hospital in Bedford, TX, from 1986 to
1987.
Prior
to being elected an ACHE Governor, White was the ACHE Regent-at-Large
for District 3 from 2002 to 2004. He chairs the Filerman Prize
for Educational Leadership Selection Committee and has served
on the boards of directors of Bon Secours Hampton Roads Health
System and Bon Secours Mary Immaculate Hospital. White is
also the author or co-author of more than 40 articles and
3 books, including The Well-Managed Healthcare Organization,
Fifth Edition, from ACHE's Health Administration Press.
Board
certified in healthcare management and an ACHE Fellow, as
well as a registered nurse, White received his doctor of philosophy
degree in health services organization and research and his
master's degree in nursing administration from Virginia Commonwealth
University, Richmond. He received his master's degree in public
health with a concentration in health administration from
the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center, Oklahoma
City. White earned his bachelor's degree in nursing from Virginia
Commonwealth University and his bachelor's degree in biology
from Oral Roberts University, Tulsa, OK.
