DONALD FAULK, JR., FACHE, ELECTED TO AMERICAN COLLEGE OF HEALTHCARE
EXECUTIVES BOARD OF GOVERNORS
CHICAGO,
March 12, 2005—A.
Donald Faulk, Jr., FACHE, president and chief executive officer
of Central Georgia Health System and The Medical Center of
Central Georgia, Macon, has been elected to serve on the Board
of Governors of the American College of Healthcare Executives,
an international professional society of 30,000 healthcare
executives.
Faulk
took office today at the Council of Regents Meeting during
ACHE’s 48th Congress on Healthcare Management at the
Hilton Chicago. He will serve a three-year term representing
ACHE affiliates on ACHE’s Board of Governors, the authority
that oversees ACHE operations and member services.
Central
Georgia Health System serves more than 50 counties in Central
and South Georgia and includes a 637-bed regional/teaching
hospital, a separate children’s hospital, a 55-bed acute
rehabilitation hospital, and a complete array of health and
wellness services. Faulk has served in his current position
with the system since 1997.
From
1974 to 1997, Faulk served in positions of progressive responsibility
at The Medical Center of Central Georgia, beginning as director
of Personnel and moving to assistant administrator for Professional
Services in 1975. From 1979 to 1995 he was executive vice
president and chief operating officer of the medical center,
and was promoted to president and chief executive officer
in 1995, at which time he also assumed responsibility as chief
operating officer of Central Georgia Health System. Faulk
began his career as an administrative resident for Baptist
Medical Centers in Birmingham, AL.
Prior
to being elected an ACHE Governor, Faulk was the ACHE Regent
for Georgia - Coastal Plains from 1998 to 2003. He is immediate
past-chairman of the Georgia Hospital Association and Voluntary
Hospitals of America (Georgia area). In addition, he is a
member of the American Hospital Association and serves on
the Macon State College Foundation Board, Georgia Institute
of Technology Alumni Board, and Georgia Institute of Technology
School of Industrial & System Engineering Advisory Board.
Faulk is a past board member of the Central Georgia Chapter
of the American Red Cross, Greater Macon Chamber of Commerce,
and Better Business Bureau of Central Georgia.
Board
certified in healthcare management and an ACHE Fellow, Faulk
received his master’s degree in healthcare administration
from Washington University, St. Louis, and his bachelor’s
degree in industrial engineering from the Georgia Institute
of Technology, Atlanta. In 2001, he was awarded Georgia Institute
of Technology’s Industrial Engineering distinguished
alumni award.
