ANDREA
R. PRICE, FACHE, ELECTED TO AMERICAN COLLEGE OF HEALTHCARE EXECUTIVES
BOARD OF GOVERNORS
CHICAGO,
March 15, 2003 Andrea R. Price, FACHE, executive vice president
and chief operating officer, Hurley Medical Center, Flint, MI, has been
elected to serve on the Board of Governors of the American College of
Healthcare Executives, an international professional society of nearly
30,000 healthcare executives.
Price
took office today at the Council of Regents meeting during ACHE's 46th
Congress on Healthcare Management at the Hilton Chicago. She will serve
a two-year term representing ACHE affiliates on ACHE's Board of Governors,
the authority that oversees ACHE operations and member services.
Hurley
Medical Center is a 465-bed tertiary, public teaching hospital for the
Michigan State University College of Human Medicine; it is affiliated
with Henry Ford Health System and the University of Michigan. Price has
been executive vice president and chief operating officer for Hurley since
2000. Before assuming her current position, Price served as vice president,
Professional Services, for Hurley from 1996 to 2000. She also served as
interim president and chief executive officer from July 2001 to February
2002. From 1985 to 1995, Price held positions of increasing responsibility
at Children's National Medical Center in Washington, D.C., including vice
president, Ambulatory and Diagnostic Services, and vice president, Professional
Services. She began her career as an administrative resident at the District
of Columbia Hospital Association.
Prior
to being elected an ACHE Governor, Price was serving as the ACHE Regent-at-Large
for District 4. She has served on the boards of directors of the Health
Care Council of Mid-Michigan, National Association of Health Services
Executives, American Red Cross Blood Services of Greater Chesapeake/Potomac
Region, Greater Flint Health Care Coalition, and the Lupus Foundation
of Greater Washington. In addition, she is a member of the Healthcare
Financial Management Association and has served on the Michigan Hospital
Association Community Benefits Task Force and the MHA Healthy Michigan
Foundation Advisory Group.
Board
certified in healthcare management and an ACHE Fellow, Price received
her master's degree in health administration from Tulane University in
New Orleans and her bachelor's degree in psychology from The University
of Michigan in Ann Arbor.
