About the author: Robert S. Bonney, JD, FACHE is currently vice president for managed care and senior vice president for product lines at the Saint Luke's Shawnee Mission Health System. Prior to this position he had over 23 years of healthcare operations experience, including simultaneously serving as senior vice president of an integrated delivery system and executive vice president and chief operating officer of the system's two largest hospitals, and more recently serving as executive director of a 170,000 member managed care organization.
