Accessing capital through the traditional sources of revenue, debt, and the sale of assets is challenging in the current economic climate. Philanthropy has emerged as a vital revenue source. Betsy Chapin Taylor shares the strategies she has cultivated throughout her successful career in healthcare philanthropy. She emphasizes the role of executives in philanthropy efforts and provides tips for involving physicians. A chapter on “the ask” will ease the anxiety involved in soliciting donations and overcoming objections.
Betsy Chapin Taylor has worked in healthcare philanthropy for seventeen years. She has served as Chief Development Officer and Foundation President for academic, community, public and faith-based healthcare systems. She has also worked in healthcare marketing, political advance work and journalism. Taylor has an MS in journalism from Columbia University in New York and an MBA from the University of Georgia. In addition, she is an accredited Fellow of the Association for Healthcare Philanthropy (the highest level of certification for healthcare fund development specialists) and a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives.
Healthcare Philanthropy: Advance Charitable Giving to Your Organization’s Mission presents a clear vision of what it means to create a culture of philanthropy and provides sage advice about how to instill that vision throughout the institution. This book is a must-read for every C-suite executive and board member.
