Lessons From the Leading Edge
Healthcare Going “Green”:
The Business of Environmental Sustainability
A program of ACHE's Fund for Innovation in Healthcare Leadership
Wednesday, December 17, 2008
7:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m.
In conjunction with the Orlando Cluster
Sustainability. Going green. Eco-friendly. What do these terms mean to healthcare? What are the growing expectations and possibilities for our industry? The 2008 Innovators program will focus on environmental sustainability from the perspective of successful organizations outside and inside of healthcare.
Sustainability goes beyond building design and facilities management; it touches all
aspects of healthcare delivery, including operations, employee recruitment and retention,
patient and customer satisfaction, community benefit and financial performance.
Join us for this one-day program and learn how going “green” can help you achieve
long-term positive returns on the investment. Learn from industry experts who will
share their best practices and experiences in building programs for sustainability within
their own organizations.
Clark Reed, director, Healthcare Facilities Division of ENERGY STAR, U.S. Environmental
Protection Agency, Washington, D.C., will deliver the keynote address and moderate the
program. The Healthcare Facilities Division is responsible for building and delivering key
tools and resources to increase energy savings at healthcare facilities across the nation.
Mr. Reed led EPA’s effort to establish a national energy performance rating system for
acute-care hospitals, which is now used by more than 50 percent of the market. He
has nearly 20 years of environmental policy experience at the federal, state and local levels
of government.
For those already participating in a Cluster program, consider adding this important session.
Or, participate solely in the Innovators program to learn how environmental sustainability
can benefit your organization and your community.
