Kathleen A. Bizarro, FACHE / 2016

Kathleen A. Bizarro, FACHE, is executive vice president, federal relations, for the New Hampshire Hospital Association in Concord, N.H.

She also serves on the Board of Governors of the American College of Healthcare Executives, an international professional society of more than 40,000 healthcare executives who lead hospitals, healthcare systems and other healthcare organizations. With comprehensive programs in credentialing, education, career counseling, publications and research, ACHE works toward its goal of being the premier professional society for healthcare executives dedicated to improving healthcare delivery.

Board certified in healthcare management as an ACHE Fellow, Ms. Bizarro served as the ACHE Regent for New Hampshire from 2006 to 2009. She served as president of the Northern New England Association of Healthcare Executives, an ACHE chapter, from 2009 to 2010. She has also served on numerous ACHE committees.

Ms. Bizarro has been with the New Hampshire Hospital Association since she started as a data technician in 1985. Before serving as executive vice president, federal relations, she served as executive vice president from 2001 to 2004. Prior to that, she served as vice president, strategic information services from 1994 to 1996; director of information services from 1991 to 1994; and associate director of information services from 1987 to 1990. She also served as vice president, strategic information services, for the Foundation for Healthy Communities, an affiliate of the New Hampshire Hospital Association, from 1996 to 2004.

In addition to her service to ACHE, Ms. Bizarro is also appointed to a number of government committees, including the Claims Data Release Advisory Committee for Limited Use Data Sets and the Communicable Disease Epidemiological Control Committee, the New Hampshire Trauma Medical Review Committee and the New Hampshire Public Health Ethics Committee. She also is active in Granite United Way, serving on a variety of committees, including as chair of the education review team.

Ms. Bizarro received her master of business administration degree in leadership from Franklin Pierce University, her bachelor’s degree in health management and policy from the University of New Hampshire, and her associate’s degree in computer information systems from the New Hampshire Technical Institute.

Richard D. Cordova, FACHE / 2014

Richard D. Cordova, FACHE, is president and CEO of Children’s Hospital Los Angeles.

He also serves on the Board of Governors of the American College of Healthcare Executives, an international professional society of more than 40,000 healthcare executives who lead hospitals, healthcare systems and other healthcare organizations. With comprehensive programs in credentialing, education, career counseling, publications and research, ACHE works toward its goal of being the premier professional society for healthcare executives dedicated to improving healthcare delivery.

Board certified in healthcare management as an ACHE Fellow, Mr. Cordova has served on numerous ACHE committees. He is also a past-chair of the Institute for Diversity in Health Management, which ACHE co-founded.

Mr. Cordova joined Children’s Hospital Los Angeles as president and COO in 2005 and became president/CEO and a member of the board of trustees in 2006. Prior to that, he was president of the Southern California Region of the Kaiser Permanente Health Plan and Hospitals from 2002 to 2004 and served as COO for Southern California at Kaiser from 1999 to 2002.

He worked with the Department of Public Health for the City and County of San Francisco from 1991 to 1998, as executive administrator of the Community Health Network from 1997 to 1998, and as CEO of San Francisco General Hospital, an acute-care hospital specializing in trauma and AIDS, from 1991 to 1997. Mr. Cordova was a founding member of the San Francisco Public Health Authority from 1996 to 1998, which created the Medi-Cal managed care organization for the city and county of San Francisco.

He also worked with the Department of Health Services for the County of Los Angeles from 1973 to 1991, including service as administrator of the General Hospital of Los Angeles County (LAC/USC Medical Center) from 1986 to 1991. He served as associate hospital administrator of Operations at Olive View Medical Center from 1978 to 1986.

In addition to his service to ACHE, Mr. Cordova serves on a number of community boards and organizations, including chair of the board of the California Children’s Hospital Association, and board member of the Child Health Corporation of America and the National Association of Children’s Hospitals and Related Institutions. He also serves on the board of trustees of the California Hospital Association and is a founding member of the National Forum for Latino Healthcare Executives.

Mr. Cordova received a master of business administration degree from the Graziadio School of Business and Management at Pepperdine University, and he completed a PEW Fellowship at the National Association of Public Hospitals and Health Systems. He received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from California State University at Los Angeles.

CAPT Robert S. Fry, PhD, FACHE / 2015

CAPT Robert S. Fry, PhD, FACHE, is assistant deputy chief for future operations, Bureau of Medicine and Surgery in Washington, D.C.

He also serves on the Board of Governors of the American College of Healthcare Executives, an international professional society of more than 40,000 healthcare executives who lead hospitals, healthcare systems and other healthcare organizations. With comprehensive programs in credentialing, education, career counseling, publications and research, ACHE works toward its goal of being the premier professional society for healthcare executives dedicated to improving healthcare delivery.

Board certified in healthcare management as an ACHE Fellow, Captain Fry served as the ACHE Regent for the Navy from 2008 to 2011. He was president of the Network of Overseas Healthcare Executives, an ACHE chapter, from 2010 to 2011. He has also served on numerous ACHE committees. In 2006, he served as chairperson of the Navy Lewis E. Angelo Professional Symposium (LEAPS).

Captain Fry was named assistant deputy chief for future operations in November 2010. Prior to this, he has served in positions of increasing authority in the Navy since beginning his career as a hospital corpsman in 1981. Captain Fry has a wide variety of professional experiences in hospitals and clinics as vice president, department head, clinical staff and instructor in the United States and overseas in Naples, Italy. He has had diverse assignments from the First Marine Air Wing, Okinawa, Japan, to several headquarters assignments in Washington, D.C. He has served as a senior population health policy analyst and program manager in the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Health Affairs/TRICARE Management Activity, as well as a principal adviser for manpower and resourcing to the Navy Surgeon General in the Office of the Chief of Naval Operations.

CAPT Fry earned a doctorate degree in public health from the College of Public Health at the University of South Florida, Tampa. He earned his master of science degree in administration from Central Michigan University and his bachelor of science degree in healthcare management from the University of La Verne.

John L. Harrington Jr., FACHE / 2015

John L. Harrington Jr., FACHE, is senior vice president/CEO, John C. Lincoln Deer Valley Hospital in Phoenix.

Mr. Harrington has served as senior vice president/CEO of John C. Lincoln Deer Valley Hospital since 2012. Previously, he joined Banner Health in 2006 as CEO of Banner Heart Hospital and then served as CEO of Banner Del E. Webb Medical Center from 2009 to 2012. Prior to that he served as CEO for Paradise Valley Hospital (Vanguard Health) in Phoenix from 2003 to 2006 and as CEO for the Arizona Heart Hospital (Medcath Inc.) in Phoenix from 2000 to 2003. Mr. Harrington served as CEO of Vencor Hospital in Phoenix from 1994 to 2000 and held the position of healthcare administrator with CIGNA Health Plan of Arizona from 1991 to 1994. He served in numerous other roles in Phoenix from 1979 to 1991 including associate administrator of Phoenix General Hospital, Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center and Thunderbird Samaritan Medical Center.

In addition to his service to ACHE, Mr. Harrington served on the board of the Arizona Hospital and Healthcare Association from 1997 to 2007 and served as Chairman in 2006. He served on the board of the Arizona chapter of the American Heart Association and was chairman of the board from 2007 to 2009. He was a founding member of the Drowning Prevention Coalition of Arizona and continues as a board member today. He served as president of the organization from 1990 to 2006.

Mr. Harrington received his master’s degree, with a focus in healthcare administration, from the University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Public Health and his bachelor’s degree also from the University of Pittsburgh.

Michael A. King, FACHE / 2016

Michael A. King, FACHE, is president/CEO of Camden Clark Medical Center in Parkersburg, W.Va.

Board certified in healthcare management as an ACHE Fellow, Mr. King served as the ACHE Regent for West Virginia from 2010 to 2013. He served as president of the West Virginia Chapter of the American College of Healthcare Executives in 2007. He has also served on numerous ACHE committees.

Mr. King has served as president/CEO of CCMC since 2011. His current role resulted from the merger of St. Joseph’s Hospital and Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital, both in Parkersburg, where he served as president/CEO from 2007 to 2011. He also served as COO of Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital from 2000 to 2007.

Prior to those roles, Mr. King served for 23 years in a variety of positions with the Charleston Area Medical Center, including senior vice president, health services, from 1995 to 2000; vice president of operations, Memorial Hospital, from 1987 to 1995; president, Strategic Ventures Inc., CAMC’s for-profit subsidiary, from 1983 to 1987; and administrator, Braxton County Memorial Hospital, Gassaway, W.Va., from 1980 to 1983.

In addition to his service to ACHE, Mr. King also serves as chair-elect and board member of the West Virginia Hospital Association, director of the United Bank of West Virginia Inc., and chair of the Area Economic Roundtable Wood County Development Authority.

Mr. King received his master’s degree in hospital administration from Virginia Commonwealth University and his bachelor’s degree in business administration from West Virginia University.

Marcel C. Loh, FACHE / 2016

Mr. Loh has served as chief executive, Swedish Suburban Hospitals and Affiliates, Swedish Health Services, since 2012. Prior to this role, he served as senior vice president and chief administrative officer, Swedish Medical Center, Cherry Hill campus, Seattle, from 2000 to 2012. From 1994 to 2000, Mr. Loh served as president/CEO of Kadlec Medical Center, Richland, Wash. He served as CEO of North Valley Hospital, Whitefish, Mont., from 1990 to 1994; administrator/assistant administrator of Quorum Health Resources Inc., Nashville, Tenn., from 1987 to 2000; and vice president, operations, for Great Plains Regional Medical Center, North Platte, Neb., from 1987 to 1990.

In the United States Army Medical Service Corp, he served as assistant administrator, plans and operations, Bayne-Jones Army Community Hospital, Fort Polk, La., from 1986 to 1987 and commander at Second Field Hospital, Fort Polk, from 1985 to 1986. Mr. Loh served as assistant administrator, professional services, from 1982 to 1984 and associate administrator, surgical services, from 1980 to 1982 at Second General Hospital, Landstuhl, West Germany. Mr. Loh also served in the Army Reserve in various leadership positions in medical units and completed his service as a Command and General Staff College instructor. He retired from the Army Reserve as a Lieutenant Colonel.

In addition to his service to ACHE, Mr. Loh serves as the American Hospital Association Section for Metropolitan Hospitals delegate. He is a past chairman of the Washington State Hospital Association and has served on numerous boards, including the American Hospital Association Regional Policy Board, Washington state chapter of the American Heart Association, the Association of Washington Business, United Way and March of Dimes. He is also a past member of Rotary International and a Paul Harris Fellow.

Mr. Loh received his master’s degree in hospital administration from the University of Iowa and his bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of North Dakota.

Southview is a division of the Grandview Medical Center System and part of the six-hospital Kettering Health Network. From 2002 to 2009, he served as executive vice president/COO at Greene Memorial in Xenia, Ohio. Mr. Ols also served as vice president of Operations at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, Ill., from 1998 to 2002. In addition, he held the position of vice president of planning and professional services at Mercy Hospital in Tiffin, Ohio, from 1993 to 1998, and vice president of marketing and planning at Mercy Hospital in Willard, Ohio, from 1990 to 1993.

In addition to his service to ACHE, Mr. Ols has also served on community boards and organizations including United Way, Boys and Girls Club, Chamber of Commerce, Kiwanis and Rotary. He has been a Boy Scout leader for 10 years and served as scoutmaster of Troop 375 in Bellbrook, Ohio.

In addition to her service with ACHE, Ms. Price serves as president of the National Association of Health Services Executives. She also serves on the board of the Institute for Diversity in Health Management and was a past board member of the Midwest Healthcare Executives Group and Associates. Ms. Price sits on the board for the Regional Growth Partnership and Toledo Chamber of Commerce and is a member of the Rotary Club of Toledo. She was appointed by the mayor of Toledo to the Toledo-Lucas County Port Authority Board. In 2008, she was selected as one of Modern Healthcare’s Top 25 Minority Executives in Healthcare.

Board certified in healthcare management as an ACHE Fellow, Dr. Scott served as the ACHE Regent for Tennessee from 2009 to 2012. She served as president of the East Tennessee Healthcare Executive Affiliation, an ACHE chapter, in 2005. She has also served on numerous ACHE committees.

Dr. Scott has served as CEO of Select Specialty Hospital since 2001. Prior to her current position, for one year Dr. Scott served as an interim CEO for Select Medical in various locations. Previously, while at Ft. Sanders Regional Medical Center in Knoxville from 1991 to 2001, she served in roles ranging from director of critical care/cardiology/emergency department to director of behavioral health to vice president of patient care services and then as vice president of operations/COO. She began her healthcare career at the DCH Regional Medical Center in Tuscaloosa, Ala., as the director of cardiac services.

In addition to her service to ACHE, Dr. Scott is a licensed nursing home administrator and a member of the Knox Area Hospital Council, the Tennessee Organization of Nurse Executives and the University of Tennessee College of Nursing Board of Visitors. She has been awarded the Knoxville Excellence in Nursing Leadership Award from the Tennessee Organization of Nurse Executives and the Tennessee State Leadership Award.

Dr. Scott received her doctorate and bachelor’s degrees from the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa and her master’s degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

Sunil K. Sinha, MD, FACHE / 2015

Sunil K. Sinha, MD, FACHE, is chief medical officer at Bon Secours–Memorial Regional Medical Center in Mechanicsville, Va.

He also serves on the Board of Governors of the American College of Healthcare Executives, an international professional society of more than 40,000 healthcare executives who lead hospitals, healthcare systems and other healthcare organizations. Board certified in healthcare management as an ACHE Fellow, Dr. Sinha served as the ACHE Regent for Maryland from 2008 to 2011. He served as president of the Maryland Association of Health Care Executives from 2004 to 2005. He has also served on numerous ACHE committees.

Dr. Sinha has served as chief medical officer of Bon Secours–Memorial Regional Medical Center, Mechanicsville, Va., since 2010. Prior to that, Dr. Sinha served as director for medical and public health policy for Pfizer Inc. in New York and Washington, D.C., and as a senior medical officer at the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. He also worked for the Department of Veterans Affairs, where he served as the director of the Managed Care Clinical Center of the VA Maryland Health Care System (VISN 5) and the director of primary care at the Marion (Ill.) VA Medical Center (VISN 15).

As a board-certified internist, Dr. Sinha practiced internal medicine in Carbondale, Ill., and currently maintains his clinical affiliation at the CrossOver Health Care Ministry charitable clinic in Richmond, Va., where he sees patients one day a week. He is a former senior examiner for the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award program, past chairperson of the Maryland Performance Excellence Award program and current board member of the Virginia state Baldrige Award program. He also serves as a juror for the National Quality Forum's National Health Care Quality Award and the Joint Commission’s John M. Eisenberg Award. He serves as adjunct faculty at The Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and the Virginia Commonwealth University and is a volunteer teacher for Junior Achievement of Central Virginia.

Dr. Sinha completed his medical education in India and an internal medicine residency at Loyola University Medical Center in Chicago, where he served as associate chief resident. He received his master of business administration degree from Southern Illinois University and a graduate certificate in information systems from The Johns Hopkins University Carey Business School.

Stephen C. Waldhoff, FACHE, is the chief administrative officer at Mayo Clinic Health System-Albert Lea and Austin in Albert Lea, Minn.

He was named chief administrative officer of Mayo Clinic Health System-Albert Lea and Austin in February 2013, following the integration of the two sites in January 2013. Prior to his current position, he was chief administrative officer of Albert Lea Medical Center, a 257-bed regional medical center, since 1997. Previously, he held multiple positions at Rochester Methodist Hospital in Rochester, Minn., serving as an administrator from 1993 to 1997, associate administrator from 1988 to 1993, and assistant administrator from 1984 to 1988. In addition, Mr. Waldhoff held the position of associate administrator for Redlands Community Hospital in Redlands, Calif., from 1978 to 1983, and assistant administrator at Martin Luther Hospital Medical Center in Anaheim, Calif., from 1976 to 1978. He also served as administrative resident at Lutheran Hospital Society of Southern California in Los Angeles from 1975 to 1976.

In addition to his service to ACHE, Mr. Waldhoff serves on a number of professional and community boards of directors, including the Minnesota Hospital Association, Mayo Health System, Southern Minnesota Initiative Foundation and the Albert Lea Business Development Center.

Mr. Waldhoff earned a master’s degree in hospital administration and a bachelor’s degree in speech/communications from the University of Minnesota.

Lori L. Wightman, RN, FACHE, is president at Unity Hospital, part of Allina Health System in Fridley, Minn.

She also serves on the Board of Governors of the American College of Healthcare Executives, an international professional society of more than 40,000 healthcare executives who lead hospitals, healthcare systems and other healthcare organizations. With comprehensive programs in credentialing, education, career counseling, publications and research, ACHE works toward its goal of being the premier professional society for healthcare executives dedicated to improving healthcare delivery.

Board certified in healthcare management as an ACHE Fellow, Ms. Wightman served as the ACHE Regent for Minnesota from 2008 to 2011.

Ms. Wightman was named president of Unity Hospital, a 275-bed acute-care hospital, in 2011. Prior to her current position, she served as president of New Ulm (Minn.) Medical Center from 2002 to 2010, assuming additional administrative oversight of Owatonna (Minn.) Hospital beginning in 2006 through 2010. She also served the Allina Hospitals and Clinics System as vice president of Operations for the Regional Health Services from 2001 to 2002.

In addition to her service to ACHE, Ms. Wightman has been secretary/treasurer for the Minnesota Hospital Association, Region 6; member of Senator Coleman’s Rural Economic Development Advisory Task Force; and a member of the New Ulm Rotary and the New Ulm Chamber. She is currently licensed as a registered nurse in Minnesota.

Ms. Wightman received a master’s degree in health administration from the University of Colorado–Denver. She received a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Moorhead State University and an associate’s degree in nursing from North Dakota State University.
