General Information

Suggested Criteria for Fellowship:

• A post-master’s degree practical experience is preferred.
• A one-year or two-year experiential learning and postgraduate training is recommended. However, six-month fellowships have been developed.
• The fellow has an opportunity for growth at the organization.
• The skills learned during the fellowship may then be applicable to a variety of work settings such as healthcare providers, alternative delivery systems, consulting firms or healthcare-related businesses.

Recommended Organizational Procedures

• Ideally, an application should be due to the sponsoring organization six months before the fellow’s start date.
• The name of the selected applicant is often announced within 60 days after the application due date. Applicants who are not chosen can then concentrate their efforts on alternative opportunities.
• A start date should be negotiated between the selected applicant and the sponsor.
• Information to be included with the application:
• a statement of interest explaining the applicant's qualifications and objectives for the fellowship and how the experience will advance his/her career
• a current resume
• a letter of recommendation from his/her program director and at least one professional recommendation
• copies of undergraduate transcripts and the most recent graduate school transcripts
