Eta S. Berner, EdD, FACMI, FHIIMSS, is professor of health services administration in the School of Health Professions at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She teaches in the master of science in health informatics program and has been at the forefront of research in the areas of the use of IT for patient safety. Dr. Berner is recognized nationally for her health informatics expertise and is a member of the editorial boards of three of the top professional journals in healthcare IT.
