Dr. Margaret Chan joins top health leaders at IHF´s 38th World Hospital Congress
CHICAGO, May 8, 2013—Top healthcare and hospital leaders from around the world will come together in Oslo, Norway, June 18–20, 2013, at the International Hospital Federation's (IHF's) 38th World Hospital Congress. Following the event's Opening Ceremony, which will feature HRH Crown Prince Haakon of Norway as a guest of honor, Dr. Margaret Chan, Director-General of the World Health Organization, will address how innovation and technology are game changers in the future of health.
The World Hospital Congress is an opportunity for healthcare leaders around the world to share information on the challenges and opportunities in healthcare.
Key decision makers in the healthcare and hospital industry will have the opportunity to participate in five plenary sessions and more than 30 parallel sessions run by IHF members such as the American Hospital Association (AHA), the Norwegian Hospital and Health Service Association (NSH), and the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) along with other key health and hospital associations from around the world.
In addition, the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) will present a session on healthcare managers' competencies and challenges. The presenters will discuss ACHE's competency model for leaders and different approaches by health systems across the United States for developing managers.
On the last day of the Congress, an operation will be broadcasted live from St. Olavs Hospital's Operating Room of the Future.

The World Hospital Congress was first held in 1929 in Atlantic City, N.J.
