New requirements for tax-exempt hospitals and health systems were introduced by the Affordable Care Act that charge healthcare organizations to take a more proactive and structured approach to serving their communities. The requirements include conducting community health needs assessments and developing implementation strategies to address identified priorities.
Policies and practices related to financial assistance, billing and collections are also impacted by the law.
