Executive Vice President, Blessing Physician Services

R. Scott Koelliker, RN, FACHE, is the executive vice president for Blessing Physician Services. Scott came to the Blessing Health System in October 2015 to lead the physician division of the organization. He came here after a 32-year career in healthcare at Heartland Health/Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph, Mo. Heartland Health/Mosaic Life Care was a 2009 Malcolm Baldrige award-winning hospital comprising a 350-bed medical center, Level II trauma center and 277-employed provider group. Scott established the physician division in 2000 after 18 years leading all major hospital inpatient service lines, including cardiology, critical care services, emergency services, surgical services, ambulatory services, and laboratory and imaging services. Scott spent his last two years at Heartland/Mosaic as the administrator of the hospital. Mosaic Life Care was the sixth hospital and clinic to join the Mayo Clinic Care Network.

In his five years at BPS, Scott and his team have recruited more than 120 new providers to Blessing Health System and the Quincy community. In addition, he helped lead the Hannibal Clinic acquisition, adding more than 50 providers and securing the largest multi-specialty physician group in the region. Blessing Physician Services achieved the national “What’s Right in Healthcare CGCAHPS” Award from the Studer Group Organization in 2016. The physician division exceeded top quartile performance in patient experience as measured by Professional Research Consultants in 2018 and 2019. Scott put in place physician governance, establishing a physician-led board of trustees and an operations council that assists with strategic and day-to-day operational issues. Blessing Physician Services has had an increase of 11% in patient volumes for three consecutive years. Blessing Physician Services has scored 100 points in Merit Based Incentive Program reporting in 2018 and 2019.

In addition to the Blessing Physician Services Board, Scott also serves as a board member for the Hannibal Clinic, the Clinically Integrated Network and several community boards.
