Affiliations between private equity (PE) investors and healthcare services entities have skyrocketed in recent years. The growth in volume, size and scale of these transactions have piqued the interest of many healthcare entities, as they play a role in the dynamic of healthcare marketplaces. We will assess the impact of the private equity transactions involving healthcare organizations from the perspectives of a physician/medical group, a private equity firm, a platform company funded by private equity and a hospital/health system. In addition to exploring current trends occurring in different transaction structures, valuations and post-transaction dynamics related to healthcare private equity deals, this session will also address the transaction and market dynamics of the healthcare industry in response to recent challenges surrounding the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Learning Objectives:

  • Explore historical and current trends in transactions involving private equity investors and healthcare services entities.
  • Address the characteristics of PE deals, including valuation methodologies, economic impact on sellers, post-transaction operations, governance, integration and management.

Presented By:

  • Mark Reiboldt, Senior Vice President, Coker Group
  • Michele Madison, JD, Partner, Morris, Manning & Martin, LLP

This session was originally presented at the 2021 Congress on Healthcare Leadership.
