Now more than ever, safety and proper hygiene protocols are crucial to successful daily operations in hospitals and healthcare facilities. Remote video auditing (RVA) first took place among hospital personnel in a critical care setting in response to poor hand hygiene rates. Today, it is used in hospital systems nationwide for a number of patient and clinician safety initiatives, including in the operating room. Recognizing its unprecedented success, the Joint Commission awarded RVA best practices a place in its Resources Quality and Safety Network.

Northwell Health LIJ Medical Center is a 1,000+ bed complex healthcare organization. North American Partners in Anesthesia (NAPA) is a national leader in healthcare innovation and patient safety. In partnership, NAPA/Northwell LIJ achieved remarkable results when they implemented remote video auditing technology in 28 operating rooms over five years ago.

Learning Objectives:

  • Gain an understanding of how remote video auditing technology drives improvements in safety, quality, surgeon satisfaction, patient experience and productivity.
  • Learn how real-time, unbiased data drove behavior change in a highly complex health system while nurturing a team environment.

Presented By:

  • Michael Goldberg, FACHE, Executive Director, Northwell Long Island Jewish Medical Center
  • Sheldon Newman, MD, Chair of Anesthesia/Area Vice President, Northwell & North American Partners in Anesthesia
