Twelve years ago, the Human Rights Campaign, the largest national lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning/queer civil rights organization, introduced the Healthcare Equality Index. The HEI is the national LGBTQ+ benchmarking tool that evaluates healthcare organizations based on practices related to diversity and inclusion for the LGBTQ+ patient population and members of the healthcare workforce. ACHE founded the LGBTQ Forum four years ago, and in 2017, the Forum began featuring in its newsletter organizations that implement best practices in LGBTQ+ healthcare equality based on the HEI leadership criteria. This presentation will feature best practices from these organizations and others that have demonstrated leadership in improving health for the LGBTQ+ patient population and inclusion for gender and sexual minorities within the workforce.

Learning Objectives:

• Participants will be able to assess their organization’s current approaches related to diversity and inclusion for the LGBTQ+ patient population and the healthcare workforce.
• Participants will be able to evaluate the effectiveness of their LGBTQ+ programs based on outcomes achieved within organizations that are exemplars in LGBTQ+ inclusion.
