Dr. Sally Houston is executive vice president/chief medical officer of Tampa General Hospital. She earned her undergraduate and medical degrees at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tenn., and she completed her internal medicine residency and Infectious Diseases fellowship at the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine.

Dr. Houston joined the faculty of the Infectious Diseases Division at the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine in 1992. She was an associate professor of medicine and associate dean for clinical research at USF. Dr. Houston has been a member of the Tampa General Hospital medical staff since 1992. She served several leadership roles including medical director of infection prevention, chief of the Department of Medicine and chief of staff. 

Dr. Houston became the chief medical officer at Tampa General Hospital in October 2007, where she oversees quality, patient experience, graduate medical education, medical staff services, clinical research and contracted physician services.
