Julie W. Raaum, DNP, APRN, is the director for advanced practice providers for the Medical College Physicians practice group at Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee. Charged with programmatic oversight for the adult clinical practice since 2009, she has developed an advanced practice provider leadership structure that supports APP recruitment and retention, transitions to practice, professional development education, scope of practice utilization, and hospital privileging and credentialing for over 400 advanced practice registered nurses and physician assistants. Leadership development and transitions into practice are two of her key areas of interest.

Dr. Raaum serves as a reviewer for Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education since 2015. She is a member of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and American Nurses Association and a past board member for the Wisconsin Nurses Association. She is the principal investigator for a $1.7 million, multi-year, Health Resources and Services Administration Advanced Nursing Education-Nurse Practitioner Residency Program grant.

Dr. Raaum holds a faculty appointment in the Department of Medicine, Division of Infectious Diseases at the Medical College of Wisconsin. She maintains a limited clinical practice scoped to the care of HIV positive and adults who are at risk of acquisition of HIV in an ambulatory setting. Both her master’s and doctorate degrees are in nursing from the University of Wisconsin—Milwaukee. Her bachelor’s degree is from Alverno College.
