ACHE Student Career Development Course
The Student Career Development Course is designed specifically for our Student Associate members and Higher Education Network partners. This course capitalizes on ACHE’s unique, self-guided career development tool ACHE CareerEDGE® SE, to leverage self-assessment data, career preferences, job search strategy and healthcare field information. This foundation serves as a framework to navigate your career path, professional growth and success as a future healthcare leader.
Through the self-guided modules, course participants can expect to:
- Be introduced to the benefits of a professional society membership.
- Explore how involvement in local chapter and national events can enhance your career network.
- Define a vision for ongoing professional development through board certification.
- Gain a personal commitment to lifelong learning.
Modules
Module 1: Introduction to Career Development and ACHE
An introduction to ACHE membership, professional development and growth through the Career Resource Center and the CareerEDGE® SE platform.
Module 2: Developing your Career Preferences: Mission/Vision/Values
ACHE’s CareerEDGE® SE platform initiates a five-step framework designed to guide students in navigating career success by leading users through the fundamental career development questions of mission, vision and values.
Module 3: How Your Personal Interests Influence Career Direction
Using the results from your MatchPoint assessment results, this session explores how your interests impact your career goals. During this module, you will analyze current positions, plan for the future, and consider future opportunities in your strategic career pathway.
Module 4: Making Your Personality Differences Work For You, Not Against You
Using the results from your CenterMark assessment results, this session explores how personality preferences can be leveraged successfully for balanced career decisions, exploration, strategy and growth.
Module 5: Creating Professional Resumes and Cover Letters
A comprehensive look at the key elements and characteristics of successful resumes such as impactful accomplishment statements, quantifiable metrics, and powerful summary statements reflective of your personal brand.
Module 6: Managing Your Professional Identity Online
Learn how to actively leverage social media for ongoing networking, connectivity, job searches and professional development. This module explores new trends and applications critical to your online professional presence such as LinkedIn, Indeed, professional associations, Instagram and Twitter.
Module 7: The Interviewing EvolutionꟷBehavioral, Virtual and In-Person
Take a closer look at the changing landscape of interviewing, including a preparation plan to successfully respond to the different types of questions, formats, and trends impacting the job search arena.
