Emily Tolman, RN, is director of health equity and access, Northern Light Health, Brewer, Maine. In her role, she helps determine system, community and patient strategies to further the Northern Light promise of “Making Healthcare Work for You,” promoting equity in health outcomes and closing gaps in healthcare for all communities.
Tolman has been with Northern Hight Health for nearly 20 years. Her career includes positions as director of quality and director of patient experience, and she has had leadership responsibility and oversight of the obstetrical unit, quality programming, performance improvement, regulatory reporting, infection prevention, and risk and policy management. She is an experienced clinician with a strong background in community outreach, strategic health and planning. She completed the Clinical Process Improvement Leadership Program at the Lawrence Center for Quality and Safety at Massachusetts General Hospital.
Tolman earned her bachelor’s degrees from Wheaton College in Massachusetts in psychobiology and from University of Maine in nursing. She completed her master’s degree in nursing from the University of Maine and she is currently pursuing a doctorate in healthcare administration.
