Recognizing a need to focus on reduction of clinical variation and unsupported utilization, BayCare Health System embarked on a journey to improve efficiency, cost and outcomes while offering more streamlined care.

This transformation revolved around the redesign and reimagination of care delivery—minimizing unnecessary utilization and reducing care variation in an effort to reduce length of stay and ICU use. Additionally, BCHS sought to implement technology that would improve telemetry utilization. Using clinical pathways allowed BCHS to provide evidence-based, standardized care for complex clinical conditions and surgical procedures in addition to helping define provider responsibilities, improve interdisciplinary communications and outline the essential care that leads to optimal patient outcomes. Join two BCHS executives as they share how these approaches, among others, resulted in less care variation, improved outcomes and realized cost savings for their organization.
