Biography

Dr. Alexander William Aleem is an associate professor, residency program director and the vice chair of education in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. Dr. Aleem specializes in shoulder and elbow surgery, focusing on improving clinical outcomes and surgical education. Dr. Aleem obtained his BS in biomedical engineering from Johns Hopkins University and his medical degree from Washington University School of Medicine. He stayed at Washington University for residency training before his shoulder/elbow fellowship at Thomas Jefferson University/The Rothman Institute. His professional career interests include extensive mentoring, curriculum development and active involvement in research both in shoulder and elbow and medical education. Dr. Aleem is recognized for his excellence in education, receiving multiple top teaching awards from residents.
