Biography

Allison Ferro started her nursing and military career in 2008 when she graduated with her Bachelor of Science in nursing from Molloy College and received her commission as a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army as a distinguished military graduate from St. John’s University. She has served as an Army nurse in a variety of patient care settings including orthopedics, neurovascular, telemetry and progressive care, clinical nurse officer-in-charge of inpatient oncology and brigade nurse. She has also served in administrative roles throughout her career such as recruiter, staff researcher on the joint combat casualty care research team, company commander and chief of clinical education in the U.S. Army burn center.

She received her master’s degree in healthcare administration from Trident University International in 2015 and her PhD in nursing science from The University of Texas at Austin. She is a graduate from the Army Basic Officer Leadership Course, Army Medical Department Advanced Course and the Command and General Staff College. Her awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal with three oak leaf clusters, Army Achievement Medal with two oak leaf clusters, Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, two Overseas Service Ribbons, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, NATO ribbon, Parachutist Badge, Air Assault Badge and the Expert Field Medical Badge. Ferro has one combat deployment to Afghanistan with the U.S. Army Central Command.

Ferro is a member of the Sigma Theta Tau International Honors Society of Nursing, The Army Nurse Corps Association and the American College of Healthcare Executives. She has several peer-reviewed journal publications and has presented over a dozen scholarly presentations and has dedicated her future service to the Army to improving combat casualty care.
