Biography

Kathy LeFrancois, RN, is the director of patient flow and nursing resources, Sarasota Memorial Hospital—Venice, with over 10 years of nursing leadership experience. She currently manages the patient flow and capacity of a 110-bed full-service hospital that opened in November 2021 with an average daily census of 130. This is the second hospital in the Sarasota Memorial Healthcare System. LeFrancois started in the 839-bed flagship hospital of SMH, where she was an administrative supervisor and then promoted to lead the SMHV nursing resources with the focus on patient flow. She has a robust resource team that focuses on discharge metrics and efficiencies of care.

LeFrancois has worked in multiple nursing leadership positions throughout her career. She has managed inpatient units, outpatient wound and infusion centers, and overall healthcare operations.

LeFrancois is currently pursuing her master’s degree in nursing leadership and management at Western Governors University where she is finalizing her capstone project on capacity management. She won the EXCEL Leadership Award in 2022 for the SMHCS for her work in opening and managing a hospital that has been over capacity since opening.
