Biography

Michael J. Fosina, FACHE, serves as Immediate Past Chair of the American College of Healthcare Executives, an international professional society of more than 48,000 healthcare executives who lead hospitals, healthcare systems and other healthcare organizations. With comprehensive programs in credentialing, education, career counseling, publications and research, ACHE works toward its goal of being the preeminent professional society for leaders dedicated to advancing health.

Board certified in healthcare management as an ACHE Fellow, Mr. Fosina served as the ACHE Regent for New York—Metropolitan New York from 2013 to 2016. He has also served on numerous ACHE committees.

Most recently, Mr. Fosina was president of NewYork-Presbyterian Lawrence Hospital, Bronxville, N.Y., and senior vice president of NewYork-Presbyterian, New York, from 2015 to 2022. Before that, he served as senior vice president and COO of NewYork-Presbyterian Lower Manhattan Hospital from 2013 to 2015; vice president and executive director of NewYork-Presbyterian Allen Hospital from 2000 to 2013; and director of integration and accreditation from 1998 to March 2000 for the newly merged NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital.

From 1990 to 1998, Mr. Fosina served at the former The New York Hospital—Cornell Medical Center in New York in roles of increasing scope and responsibility. From 1985 to 1990, he worked at the former Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center in New York.

In addition to his service to ACHE, Mr. Fosina is an advisory board member for the University of Delaware, College of Health Sciences; a member of the board of trustees for Silvercrest Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation; and a board member for LiveOn NY (Council of Senior Centers) and the Business Council of Westchester. He also is an active Fellow in the New York Academy of Medicine, and he was a Health and Aging Policy Fellow from 2011 to 2013, and a Congressional Fellow from 2011 to 2012.

Mr. Fosina received his master’s degree in public health from Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health, and a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Delaware.
