Biography

Fawzia Rasheed, PhD, is a policy and program analyst whose priorities include tackling the climate and environmental crises.

Dr. Rasheed leads the work on decarbonizing health operations for the Aga Khan Health Services, across eight countries and involving over 500 health facilities. She is working toward a goal of achieving net zero emissions in the organization’s operations by, if not before, 2030. Innovations developed through this experience are being shared with governments across the world in collaboration with the World Health Organisation. Dr. Rasheed holds professorships at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and the James P Grant School of Public Health; and is a trustee of OKRE, founding member of AmplifyChange, and a member of the Global Steering Committee of the Geneva Centre of Healthcare Leadership for Sustainability.

Dr. Rasheed has worked with more than 20 governments to evaluate, reposition and develop initiatives. She was senior policy advisor to an intergovernmental South-South initiative of 16 Ministries of Health:“Partners in Population and Development” and developed several intergovernmental collaborations. Previous positions include Global Health Leadership Fellow and Senior Policy Adviser to the World Health Organisation, UNAIDS and with The Global Fund.

Dr. Rasheed has a PhD in immunology/medicine from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.
