Thomas A. Atchison, EdD

<div id="pastingspan1"></div><div id="pastingspan1">Thomas A. Atchison, EdD, is president and founder of Atchison Consulting LLC. Since 1984, Dr. Atchison has consulted with healthcare organizations on managed change programs, team building and leadership development. His clients include senior executives, managers, trustees and physician leaders. He has also consulted the military, healthcare vendors and government agencies on the intangible aspects of healthcare.</div><div> </div><div id="pastingspan1">Dr. Atchison has taught several courses on leadership and change management for ACHE. He has also written numerous articles about motivation, managed change, teambuilding and leadership. His book, <em>Turning Healthcare Leadership Around</em>, was published in October 1990. He has served as an executive team performance coach for 20 years and is considered a thought leader in healthcare quality and performance improvement methodology. Mr. Caldwell was the healthcare representative on the U.S. Quality Council, and continues to serve as a member of the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award Board Support Team. Carson F. Dye, FACHE

<p><strong>Carson F. Dye, FACHE,</strong> president and CEO of Exceptional Leadership LLC, is a seasoned consultant with more than 40 years of leadership and management experience. He has served as an executive search consultant and partner with Witt/Kieffer, TMP Worldwide, and LAI/Lamalie Associates. Prior to these roles, he was partner and director of Findley Davies’s healthcare consulting division in Toledo, Ohio. He has 20 years of experience in healthcare administration, serving in executive-level positions at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center in Toledo, the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in Columbus, Clermont Mercy Hospital in Cincinnati, and Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center. <br><br>Mr. Dye has been a regular faculty member for the American College of Healthcare Executives since 1987 and has presented workshops for 40 state and local hospital associations. He has written 10 other books, all published by ACHE Learn, including three James A. Patsy Engel

<div>Patsy Engel is on the faculty of Catalysis, Appleton, Wis., a company focused on educational programs and resources designed to transform healthcare value, where she teaches the management system curriculum in the U.S. and Canada. Ms. Engel is a registered nurse with 25 years of clinical experience, and a certified asthma educator. She holds a Lean Bronze Certification from the SME/AME (manufacturing associations). Ms. Engel previously held various positions at ThedaCare, northeast Wis., including that of Director of Spread and Best Practice in the hospital division. <div></div> <p>Nick A. Fabrizio is the founder of Fabrizio, DeLine & Grant Consulting Group LLC in Liverpool, N.Y. He is also on the faculty of Cornell University, Ithica, N.Y., in the Sloan Program in Health Administration where he has served as the executive in residence. He developed the Healthcare Certificate Program for eCornell.</p> <p>With over 25 years of experience as a strategist, executive and negotiator, Dr. Fabrizio lectures, consults, mediates and advises healthcare organizations and boards. His work focuses on physician-hospital alignment strategies, advising investor-owned and for-profit multihospital systems, and physician-owned medical groups. Kathleen L. Forbes, MD

<p><strong>Kathleen Forbes, MD, CPE, FAAFP</strong>, is executive vice president and COO of academic facilities and services for Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare System and vice chancellor of health affairs for the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis. Forbes provides strategic and operational leadership for Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital, Methodist University Hospital, the Physician Enterprise, service lines, clinical institutes, the Integrated Operations Center, telehealth and affiliated services. She also oversees the academic relationships, graduate medical education and research. Prior to her appointment at Methodist, Forbes served as the system chief integration officer for Premier Health System in Dayton, Ohio. </p> <p>She began her career by starting her own practice in Brook Park, Ohio, and growing it for more than 10 years, including spearheading the development of a physician hospital organization and facilitating alignment with Cleveland Clinic. Forbes then transitioned to administration, serving in leadership roles of increasing responsibility and scope since 2001 at healthcare organizations including OSF Healthcare in Peoria, Ill.; University of North Texas Health Science Center in Fort Worth; TriHealth in Cincinnati; and Saratoga Hospital in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. She has held numerous academic appointments at the University of Tennessee, University of North Texas Health Science Center, Bethesda North Hospital and Samaritan Hospital in Cincinnati, and Case Western Reserve University Medical School in Cleveland.</p> <p>Forbes is a board-certified physician executive and a board-certified family physician with a medical degree from the Medical College of Ohio. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Bowling Green State University in Ohio and a Master of Science in Healthcare Management from the University of Texas at Dallas/Southwestern University Alliance for Medical Management Education. </p> <p>Forbes has served as a member of The National Leadership Institute—where she was part of the Millennium Group and Chair of the Clinical Bullpen—and is a member of the National Healthcare Physician CEO Roundtable. <div>Chad Konchak is the director of clinical analytics at NorthShore University HealthSystem in Evanston, Ill. Scott A. Mason, DPA, LFACHE

<div><strong></strong><div id="pastingspan1">Adviser to hospitals, health systems and health-related companies, Scott A. Mason, DPA, FACHE, is an independent consultant, board member and serial entrepreneur. His career has spanned diverse strategy assignments with more than 400 organizations in 40 states. In addition to joining the consulting firm Booz Allen Hamilton and founding his own firm early in his career, Mason has held senior executive positions with numerous private and public companies. Mason has also served in a variety of interim management positions, including as a hospital executive and president of a regional health system. After selling his consulting firm to a health technology company in 1997 (after 17 years), he helped start two other technology firms related to EHRs.</div><div> </div><div id="pastingspan1">Mason is a recognized thought leader in healthcare strategy. A trusted advisor to executive teams and boards, he has written extensively and established himself as one of the industry’s prominent voices in dealing with key trends and their implications. His consulting practice was always focused on the strategic success of his clients. The focus of Mason’s strategy engagements has evolved over the years from aggregating regional hospital systems (more than $20 billion in hospital mergers and almost 40 regional health systems formed) to conducting post-merger integration following these initial mergers. Mason was an early advocate for clinical service lines as an essential component of a growth strategy. Recently, his focus has shifted toward improved management through “systemness” related to what he calls “disruptive collaboration,” including shared clinical service lines. He emphasizes improving the customer experience by adopting retail strategies and embedding them into modern ambulatory care facilities that extend into strategic community-based locations.</div><div> </div><div id="pastingspan1">As a Fellow and faculty member of ACHE, Mason has taught an evolving two-day seminar to senior healthcare executives titled “Growth in the Reform Era,” for almost a decade. He is proud of previously being elected chairman of the American Association of Healthcare Consultants and, more recently, being appointed chair of the ACHE Healthcare Consultants Forum Committee.</div><div id="pastingspan1">A popular speaker at regional meetings and board retreats, Mason has published extensively. <p>Todd Sagin is the national medical director of Sagin Healthcare Consulting LLC, which provides guidance on a wide range of healthcare issues. Recognized across the nation for his work with medical staffs, hospital boards and physician organizations, he is a popular lecturer, consultant, mediator and advisor to healthcare organizations. Patty White is the immediate past president and CEO of Dignity Health St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center in Phoenix, Ariz., a 600-bed, not-for-profit hospital that is a nationally recognized center for quality tertiary care, medical education and research. St. Joseph's is one of the largest hospitals in Dignity Health, one of the nation's largest healthcare systems. Under Ms. White's leadership, St. Joseph's consistently received local and national awards for quality and patient safety, and continues to be a leading center for neurosciences, transplant services and cancer treatment. Ms. White had been a leader in the Dignity Health Arizona Service Area for more than 30 years. She began her career at St. Joseph's as a cardiovascular nurse, eventually serving as COO, CNO and vice president of operations.
