From Bench to Bedside: Health System Leadership in the Adoption of Novel Diagnostic Tools
As healthcare continues to evolve toward precision medicine, novel diagnostic tools such as minimal residual disease (MRD) monitoring and multi-cancer early detection (MCED) testing are becoming critical components of cancer care. For healthcare executives, evaluating, adopting and overseeing the implementation of these technologies requires both strategic insight and operational consistency.
Executives must begin by assessing the clinical evidence supporting MRD and MCED, ensuring these tools are both scientifically valid and aligned with organizational goals for quality and value-based care. Adoption also demands strong cross-functional leadership. Critically, executives must balance innovation with operational efficiency. Integrating these diagnostics shouldn’t disrupt but enhance care delivery. Health system leaders have a pivotal role in shaping how new diagnostics are leveraged to drive better outcomes, optimize resources and position their organizations at the forefront of modern oncology care.
Learning Objectives:
- Recognize the importance of leadership in evaluating, adopting and monitoring the implementation of novel diagnostic precision oncology tools
- Describe the strategic impact of these tools on population health and value-based care
- Explore adoption considerations for novel diagnostics such as multi-cancer early detection (MCED) and molecular residual disease (MRD)
