SAMUEL L. ODLE, FACHE, INSTALLED AS CHAIRMAN OF AMERICAN COLLEGE OF HEALTHCARE EXECUTIVES

CHICAGO, March 12, 2005—Samuel L. Odle, FACHE, president and chief executive officer of Methodist and Indiana University Hospitals and executive vice president of Clarian Health, Indianapolis, has assumed the office of Chairman of the American College of Healthcare Executives, an international professional society of 30,000 healthcare executives.

Odle was installed today at the Council of Regents Meeting during ACHE’s 48th Congress on Healthcare Management at the Hilton Chicago. He received the gavel from Richard A. Henault, FACHE, outgoing ACHE Chairman.

As Chairman, Odle will serve the second part of a three-year term in ACHE’s consecutive chairmanship offices: Chairman-Elect, Chairman, and Immediate Past-Chairman.

Before being named Chairman-Elect, Odle served as an ACHE Governor from 2001 to 2004 and the ACHE Regent-at-Large for District 4 from 1997 to 2001.

Odle began his career at Winona Memorial Hospital in Indianapolis in 1970. After serving in progressive positions in the radiology department there, he became assistant administrator of Administrative and Professional Services for Winona in 1978. In 1979, he was named vice president of Professional Services and Medical Staff Affairs, a position he held until 1981. He then joined Methodist Hospital of Indiana, Inc., as vice president of Operations, later serving as vice president of Professional Services and senior vice president and chief operating officer.

Odle serves on the boards of the Indianapolis Department of Waterworks, the Indiana University School of Nursing, Park Tudor School, and Regions Bank. In addition, he is a member of the National Association of Health Services Executives and the Indiana Black and Minority Health Advisory Committee. In 1990, Odle received the National Emerging Leader in Healthcare Award from The Healthcare Forum (now Health Forum, an American Hospital Association company).

Board certified in healthcare management and an ACHE Fellow, Odle received his master’s degree in hospital administration and his bachelor's degree in allied health education from Indiana University, Indianapolis.

He is married to Alexis Odle and has three daughters: Tiffany, Olivia, and Montgomery.
