    Author

    <p>Sarah Freymann Fontenot, JD, served as the adjunct professor for health law in the Department of Health Care Administration at Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas for 26 years and retired in 2023. A former nurse and practicing attorney, she is also a professional speaker who specializes in explaining how healthcare is evolving and what those changes mean for providers. Fontenot also has taught extensively for physician organizations including the Texas Medical Association and for ACHE since 2007, for which she is an online instructor for the Board of Governors Examination Review course, Health Law Essentials. Previously, Fontenot taught in the Department of Epidemiology and Public Health at Yale Medical School in New Haven, Connecticut. </p>

A noted consultant, author and lecturer, Mr. Kaufman has made significant contributions to the body of healthcare literature during his more than 40 years&#8217; experience in the healthcare industry, including more than 76 published articles. As a nationally renowned expert in the areas of peak-performing hospitals and physician groups, hospital strategy, physician compensation, integrated delivery systems, managed care, joint ventures and dispute resolution, he has served as an expert witness in healthcare arbitration cases. He regularly speaks on these topics and others for numerous health system organizations and healthcare associations throughout the country and presents at numerous major conferences as a keynote speaker. Prior to her role at Carolinas HealthCare System, Ms. Whitecotton was president, Levine Children’s Hospital, also in Charlotte. She began her healthcare leadership career as a nurse manager for the neonatal ICU at Northwest Texas Hospital, Amarillo. A recipient of the 2009 Women in Business Award from the Charlotte Business Journal, she completed a Nurse Executive fellowship at the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania in 2005.     <div id="pastingspan1">Stephan Davis, DNP, FACHE, is the inaugural executive director of inclusive leadership education for the Department of Health Administration at Virginia Commonwealth University. He also serves as assistant dean of diversity, equity and inclusion for VCU&#8217;s College of Health Professions, which houses programs across nine disciplines. These include top-ranked programs in U.S. News and World Report, such as nurse anesthesia (No. 1 in the nation), healthcare management and rehabilitation counseling (ranked in the top 5), and physical therapy and occupational therapy (ranked in the top 20).</div><div>&nbsp;</div><div id="pastingspan1">Davis is a faculty member for the American College of Healthcare Executives and an ACHE Fellow. He recently served ACHE as chair of the LGBTQ Healthcare Leaders Community and as a Regent-at-Large, a role created to foster diversity in the governance of ACHE. Prior to that, he was senior vice president/CMO for Sentara Healthcare, where his responsibilities included the clinical effectiveness, patient safety, physician integration and medical management initiatives for Sentara’s integrated health system. He is a board-certified family physician and currently serves on the Board of Stewardship Trustees for CommonSpirit Health.</p>
