Learn Tactics to Enhance Physician Leadership

Gain the tools to improve your physician leadership program and earn 6 ACHE Qualified Education credits during an upcoming online seminar.

Developing Physician Leaders for Clinical Integration,” goes beyond the traditional educational program curriculum design, placing emphasis on active learning, developmental exercises and experiential learning. Expert faculty Carson F. Dye, FACHE, will cover tactics and methods outlined in his book, Developing Physician Leaders for Successful Clinical Integration, during the online seminar. Registration for the online seminar includes either a digital or hard copy of Dye’s book.

Watch Healthcare Superstars Inspire

Gold Medal Award recipients Christine M. Candio, FACHE, and Kenneth R. White, PhD, RN, FACHE, reveal their leadership successes at Congress.

During the Congress on Healthcare Leadership, Candio and White were the recipients of ACHE’s highest honor bestowed on outstanding leaders.

Candio, president/CEO, St. Luke's Health Corporation, St. Louis, served as ACHE Chairman from 2014 to 2015. "What has and continues to motivate me is seeing the impact of making a positive difference in people’s lives and to ensure that our communities are being well served," said Candio in a recent interview. "Working in the healthcare field is so much more than a “job”; it is a sacred privilege."

White, associate dean for strategic partnerships and innovation, The School of Nursing, University of (Charlottesville) Virginia, served on the Board of Governors from 2004 to 2007. In commenting on what motivates him, he said, "What … has continued to motivate me is a steadfast commitment to providing the best care possible. From the bedside to the boardroom, I am an advocate for doing what is best for the patient."

Special Sessions Offered in San Antonio This Month

The San Antonio Cluster includes two can’t-miss sessions: the leader's role in high reliability, and transitioning from the military-to-civilian healthcare. Held concurrently April 16, in which you can earn 12 ACHE Face-to-Face Education credits, the programs are: 

Leveraging Leadership for High Reliability Safe Care focuses on the causes of injury and error and the role of leadership in implementing high-reliability safe care and the practical aspects of developing a culture of safety.

Transitioning From the Military to Civilian Healthcare concentrates on the issues when entering the healthcare workforce following a military career. It includes feedback from those who have made that transition.

Be among the first to register for these special sessions or for the entire course to learn problem-solving approaches designed to meet the demanding issues healthcare leaders face. 
 
The San Antonio Cluster will also include its traditional seminar offerings April 15–18, along with the ever-popular “Process and Technique of Negotiating” April 15–17.


How to Help Create Future Healthcare Leaders

Consider establishing a postgraduate fellowship with the help of ache.org/Postgrad. This portal of resources is packed with the tools you need to develop a fellowship, including detailed resources on logistics, compensation and benefits, recruiting, onboarding, and assessing candidates.

Organizations also can post opportunities in ACHE’s Online Directory of Postgraduate Fellowships, increasing their visibility for students seeking postgraduate administrative fellowships on a national level.

2019 IHF Awards Now Open for Entries

The International Hospital Federation Awards is now accepting submissions for outstanding projects and programs. Hospitals and health service providers are invited to nominate by the May 17, 2019, deadline for a chance to be recognized internationally. Entries can be submitted for the following: 

IHF/Dr Kwang Tae Kim Grand Award
Open only to IHF full and associate members and their healthcare provider members (this includes ACHE’s members), this award recognizes excellence and achievements with proven results at the health system or facility level in multiple areas that include quality and patient safety, corporate social responsibility, innovations in service delivery at affordable costs, and healthcare leadership and management practices.

IHF Excellence Awards
Open to IHF Member and nonmember public and private healthcare provider organizations, these awards recognize excellence or outstanding achievements in several specific fields.
