Program Spotlight:
Relive Highlights From the 2022 Congress
After months of anticipating the face-to-face connections we’ve missed over the past two years, we can’t believe that our first in-person Congress on Healthcare Leadership since 2019 is already over. Nearly 4,000 people attended the premier event dedicated to advancing healthcare leadership excellence. In addition to the networking, career advising, and insights and best practices shared by more than 240 faculty, Chair, Anthony A. Armada, FACHE, and Chair-Elect, Delvecchio S. Finley, FACHE, were installed. We thanked our outgoing Board of Governor members for their tremendous service, we welcomed new Governors and Regents into office, and we honored our Fellows, friends and colleagues for their service to the healthcare profession.
Whether you attended this year’s Congress or weren’t able to make it, we invite you to take a moment to relive some of the highlights from this memorable week. Visit our Congress multimedia archive to access videos of the 2022 ACHE Overview and the Year in Review, Opening Session remarks from ACHE’s Immediate Past Chair, Carrie Owen Plietz, FACHE, and remarks from Armada. Videos of some of this year’s ACHE Award winners are also available; watch the induction and acceptance speeches for the 2022 Gold Medal Award Winner, Michael J. Fosina, FACHE; the 2022 Lifetime Service Award winners Zeff Ross, LFACHE, and Steven M. Saxe, LFACHE; the 2022 Robert S. Hudgens Memorial Award for Young Healthcare Executive of the Year, Callie C. Andrews, FACHE; and 2022 President’s Award winner John W. Bluford III, LFACHE.
If you attended Congress and/or the Virtual Leadership Symposium, we hope they were positive experiences for you. Thank you for contributing to the success of these events, and for your service to the healthcare profession and your commitment to healthcare leadership excellence.
Run for Regent-at-Large
The ACHE Board of Governors is calling for applications to serve as Regent-at-Large in Districts 1, 4, 5 and 6 beginning in March 2023. ACHE Fellows are eligible for Regent-at-Large vacancies within their district.
The goal of the Board of Governors in appointing Regents-at-Large is to diversify the Council of Regents. The purpose of the Regent-at-Large is to promote diversity in the governance of ACHE with respect to race, ethnicity, gender, religion, age, sexual orientation or disability. For further details, please refer to ACHE’s Statement on Diversity. The responsibilities of the Regent-at-Large—including suggested knowledge, skills and experience for the role—are included in the position description. We encourage interested candidates to review the position description and Statement on Diversity before applying. Appointments will be made by the Board of Governors in November 2022. Candidates should not directly contact members of the Board of Governors to request letters of support.
If you have any questions about running for Regent-at-Large, please contact Caitlin E. Stine, content marketing specialist, Department of Marketing, at cstine@ache.org. Candidates must declare their candidacies by Sept. 19.
Reducing Burnout by Developing a Participative Culture

Dolan Executive Diversity and Career Accelerator Programs: Applications Close May 5
Applicants have a little over two weeks left to apply for the Thomas C. Dolan Executive Diversity Program and Thomas C. Dolan Career Accelerator Program. Both the Dolan Executive Diversity Program and Career Accelerator Program provide education, mentoring and networking experiences to prepare diverse leaders for higher-level positions in hospitals, health systems and other healthcare organizations.
In 2022, the Executive Diversity Program will consist of e-learning, including live and recorded webinars, self-study materials and three in-person sessions. The Career Accelerator Program will be exclusively virtual this year. Dolan scholars are empowered through a structured curriculum and activities that cultivate strong leadership presence; sharpen expertise in diversity, equity and inclusion; build critical leadership skills; and expand one’s capacity to navigate career opportunities and challenges. Both programs are six months in duration.
More information about the Executive Diversity and Career Accelerator Programs can be found here.
Podcast: From the C-Suite: An Executive’s Role in Health Equity
In case you missed it, Odette Bolano, FACHE, president and CEO of St. Alphonsus Health System, recently joined the Healthcare Executive Podcast to discuss how C-suite and board executives can drive better, more equitable health outcomes. From safety to workforce retention to population health, this conversation will help leaders consider the impact of their DEI strategies—both inside and outside the hospital walls. “Strengthening Health Equity From the Boardroom to the Community” was the title of Bolano’s address during the Thomas C. Dolan Diversity Address at the 2022 Congress on Healthcare Leadership.
