Baldrige White Paper: Overcoming Evasive Organizational Challenges

This white paper explains how Baldrige award winners achieve and sustain top quartile performance even after winning the award. Winning CEOs mutually agree that every organization should use Baldrige as a learning opportunity, even if there is no interest in the award process itself.

Strategy Execution and Sustainability: Using the Baldrige Leadership Model to Overcome Evasive Organizational Challenges illustrates that when the Baldrige performance excellence framework’s six leading categories—leadership; strategy; customers; measurement, analysis and knowledge management; workforce; and operations—are implemented effectively, strong results can be achieved. Leadership, however, is the common denominator and a primary driver for each of those leading categories.

Come to Puerto Rico and Lead in Changing Times

When you attend the Puerto Rico Program in June, you will gain the skills needed to lead and manage change. You will also earn up to 24 ACHE Face-to-Face Education credits.

“Leading and Managing in Changing Times” (June 17–18) and “Leading in a Changing Environment: Focus on Population Health” (June 19–20) will equip you with the coaching skills needed to drive performance during organizational changes, and tools to improve the health, experience and per capita cost of defined subpopulations. Select the seminar that best supports your career development, or attend both. Each will earn you 12 ACHE Face-to-Face Education credits.

Transformational, proactive and translational are just some of the words used to describe the change processes that are occurring in today’s healthcare environment. Unique skill sets are needed to lead and manage these processes as the healthcare field transforms.

The chance to collaborate with colleagues on issues you are facing will dovetail naturally into the topics covered during the seminars. Take advantage of the opportunity to discuss learnings and engage with peers on common issues and opportunities you share.

Deadline Approaching for Congress Speakers

May 8 is the final date to submit speaker proposals for the 2020 Congress on Healthcare Leadership.

Congress will be held March 23–26 at the Hyatt Regency Chicago. Sessions focus on the experiences of healthcare leaders, enterprise decision makers or those implementing new technologies or processes. Proposals generally should be consistent with that focus and any new methodologies, techniques or tools used to support such application. Most importantly, proposals should explicitly describe applicable take-away tools and practical knowledge that will be part of the session.

Preference will be given to proposals that align with the identified topics of interest. While topics may appear broad, each has several subcategories from which to choose. Proposals will be reviewed based on their relevancy to current trends and the operational needs of our members.
