Kindred Healthcare, Inc

Operating Room On-Time Case Study

In the March/April issue of Journal of Healthcare Management, read how one hospital dramatically increased its on-time OR starts.

Many hospitals are prioritizing high on-time starts because even minor delays at the beginning of a surgery can ripple throughout an entire facility, causing additional expense at every stage. In the current JHM issue, the authors of "First Case On-Time Starts Measured by Incision On-Time and No Grace Period" detail their successful method for improving on-time starts.

The issue also features articles addressing these topics:

  • The importance of ethics audits in minimizing risk.
  • State expansion of Medicaid has led to substantial reductions in hospitals’ uncompensated care costs. However, has expansion resulted in payment shortfalls that offset those reductions?
  • The value of culturally sensitive care and respect for culture can improve the delivery of care.
