Program Spotlight:
Gain Leadership Insights and Global Perspectives
It’s no surprise that the ongoing pandemic-induced strain on hospitals and health systems is taking a toll on the healthcare workforce, with staffing shortages ranking as the chief concern for CEOs. However, it isn’t just front-line healthcare workers who are leaving the field. Already this year, more than 70 hospital CEOs left their roles, a 20% increase from the same period last year, according to a recent report from Challenger, Gray & Christmas.
That’s why ACHE’s Virtual Leadership Symposium—a two-day event showcasing all new, cutting-edge content and integrated networking opportunities—will feature solutions-focused hot topic and leadership insights sessions geared toward the issues that matter most to healthcare executives. And, by attending the Virtual Leadership Symposium, Oct. 10–11, you can earn up to 6 ACHE Face-to-Face Education and continuing clinical education credits.
The at-a-glance agenda provides a glimpse of some of the sessions you can attend, such as the following:
- Join future-of-work expert Melissa Swift, U.S. transformation leader with global HR and wealth management consultancy Mercer, for the opening session “Leading Workforce Transformation.” Swift will identify approaches for successfully navigating the rapidly changing workplace and offer evidence-based strategies for creating positive workplace transformation.
- Madeline Bell, president/CEO, The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, Jacqueline Hunter, senior vice president/chief diversity and inclusion officer, the University of Vermont Health Network, and Barclay E. Berdan, FACHE, CEO, Texas Health Resources, will highlight the critical skills needed to effectively lead during a crisis during “Leadership Insights: Comprehensive Crisis Leadership.”
- During “Leadership Insights: Taking Inclusive Leadership From Words to Action,” Thomas H. Lee, MD, CMO, Press Ganey Associates LLC, and David Smith, PhD, associate professor of practice, Johns Hopkins Carey Business School, will explore common pitfalls in the quest to be an inclusive leader and identify effective approaches for building a culture of inclusivity at all levels within healthcare organizations.
In collaboration with the International Hospital Federation, the Virtual Leadership Symposium will also provide opportunities to explore global challenges, perspectives and solutions.
We are continually adding sessions and speakers to the Virtual Leadership Symposium lineup, so be sure to visit ache.org/VLS often to see what’s new and register today. Early bird pricing is available until Sept. 26.
Measure Your Emotional Intelligence and Leadership Effectiveness
Career experts agree that EQ is a better predictor of career success than IQ, but many healthcare executives lack a clear idea of how their emotional intelligence measures up. The Sept. 22 “Emotional Intelligence and Leadership Effectiveness Virtual Workshop” will use the results of a full assessment of your emotional intelligence quotient to guide you in building stronger relationships, enhancing self-awareness and achieving greater work-life balance. This workshop offers 2 ACHE Face-to-Face Education credits. Register today to craft strategies for creating an emotional intelligence execution plan.
