Tactical Guidance for Attaining Community Health
“Now is the time to move away from fee-for-service care and toward an approach that prioritizes quality, favorable outcomes and affordability for all populations,” writes Mark Angelo, MD. Author of Caring for Our Communities: A Blueprint for Better Outcomes in Population Health, Angelo explores how the U.S. healthcare system has incentivized behavior that does not support the health of communities.
Angelo shares his expertise as a senior administrator of a large accountable care organization and a leader in population health and palliative medicine. He provides tactical guidance for developing effective community health programs, rooted in equity. He illustrates how to improve coordination and management along the continuum of care using real-world examples.
Caring for Our Communities provides a road map for creating an equitable, outcomes-focused system, using the right resources to nurture community health. Read an excerpt here.

The Mutual Power of Mentoring Relationships
Current executives and future leaders benefit when they contribute to the profession through mentoring, and ACHE members have access to an exclusive way to get started: ACHE’s national Leadership Mentoring Network.
The network provides strategic matching and support for successful mentor partnerships. Formal programming lasts six months, although many partnerships carry on beyond the formal timeline. The program operates in two cohorts per year; to be part of this year’s fall cohort, submit an application by Monday, Sept. 30.
Fellows and healthcare leaders with a minimum of five years of experience at the director level or higher can serve as a mentor through the Leadership Mentoring Network. Being a mentor provides numerous benefits, which are detailed in an ACHE blog post and in a 2021 Healthcare Executive column.
Learn more about the Leadership Mentoring Network and complete your mentor or mentee profile here.
Choosing to Pursue the FACHE® Credential?
For anyone considering whether to pursue the FACHE credential, hear what some colleagues have to say. Andrew S. Mullins, FACHE, CEP, Lifeline of Ohio (Columbus), asserts, “Find out what you need to do now to be able to become a Fellow. You'll never regret it.”
Angela R. DeLaere, FACHE, president/CEO, Visiting Nurse Association & Blue Water Hospice, Port Huron, Mich., echoes that sentiment. “Fellowship status has helped me in my career,” she says. DeLaere doesn’t believe that she would be at this point in her career without Fellowship status.
Learn more about the credential by participating in a complimentary FACHE overview webinar set for Sept. 12. Participants will get a complete overview of the process, including eligibility requirements, materials needed for the application process and information about how to prepare for the Board of Governors Exam. Participants can also ask questions during the presentation.
The webinar is free, but registration is required. Learn more and register today.
