“Leadership Insights: Excellence, Efficiency and the Evolution of the VA’s Care Delivery Model”
The 2024 Congress on Healthcare Leadership brings together thought leaders from across the healthcare continuum to advance healthcare leadership in communities across the globe. On Wednesday, March 27, attend a presentation from Shereef Elnahal, MD, the Under Secretary for Health, U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, one of the 150-plus expert-led sessions at this year’s Congress. As America’s largest integrated health system, the Veterans Health Administration can provide a perspective on healthcare access, delivery and outcomes that is both wide-ranging and applicable to private-sector healthcare.
Elnahal will share insights about building the capacity of thousands of new healthcare providers to improve efficiency and productivity in ambulatory care. Move From Mentor to Sponsor
Sponsorship has a measurable impact on the opportunities available to women and others historically marginalized. In an ACHE Blog post, Douglas Riddle, PhD, DMin, FAPA, curriculum director, The Carol Emmott Foundation, provides seven practical ideas on how executives can introduce more sponsoring into their mentoring relationships.
The key difference between mentoring and sponsoring is the degree of risk and the amount of investment involved—moving beyond listening and advice. Riddle writes, “Speaking up for another means being willing to take the risk that things may not work out perfectly and being willing to stay in the arena with our mentees,” which can grow into an immense reward of championing worthy leaders.
