Podcast: Transitions: Perspective From a Physician Leader and Veteran

In this Healthcare Executive podcast, Raul Zambrano, MD, FACHE, shares his unique perspective as both a physician executive and a military practitioner who has transitioned to civilian care. Zambrano also discusses the traits and training that help physicians and veterans excel as healthcare executives.

A Convenient Way to Recertify Your FACHE® Credential

As a Fellow of ACHE, you worked hard to earn your FACHE credential, and we want to ensure you retain it. The Congress on Healthcare Leadership offers an excellent opportunity to do so. If you are a Fellow due to recertify this year and have completed the continuing education and volunteer activity requirements, stop by the ACHE Member Services Booth during Congress and complete your recertification application. Recertifying during Congress will ensure that the hours earned at the 2020 Congress will go toward your next recertification cycle. While there, be sure to take some time to become familiar with other ACHE programs and services.

Keep in mind that to recertify, Fellows must have completed 36 hours of continuing education (including 12 hours of ACHE Face-to-Face Education credits), and participated in two healthcare and two community/civic volunteer activities. Log onto my.ache.org to check your recertification status, the number of continuing education credit hours you have earned so far and your recertification deadline.

Maximize Your Time at Congress With Pre-Congress Seminars

Make the most of your Congress on Healthcare Leadership experience by attending one of two seminars offered the weekend before Congress begins.

During “Behavioral Health Challenges, Strategies and Solutions: The Business Case for Meeting Community Needs,” you’ll gain practical strategies for creating access to comprehensive, high-quality behavioral healthcare services at a time when managing access to and cost for behavioral healthcare is becoming a top concern for many providers. When you attend “Behavior Smarts: Increasing Healthcare Leadership Performance,” you will learn and practice the key behaviors needed to connect with team members and build stronger personal relationships.

The Pre-Congress Seminars provide 12 ACHE Face-to-Face Education credits, as well as continuing education credits for physicians, nurses, pharmacists and physician assistants. They can be taken as part of your Congress experience or as stand-alone programs. Register today.

Advance the Next Generation of Healthcare Leaders

ACHE and the American Hospital Association’s Institute for Diversity and Health Equity invite host sites and students to register for the Institute’s 2020 Summer Enrichment Program at diversityconnection.org/SEP.

The Summer Enrichment Program places diverse graduate students pursuing advanced degrees in healthcare administration or a related field in 10-week, paid internships at healthcare organizations across the country. The internships typically run June through August.

The Institute for Diversity and Health Equity is currently matching students with organizations that would like to serve as host sites. Host site organizations gain access to the healthcare leaders of tomorrow. Former SEP interns, for instance, are now CEOs and administrators of hospitals and healthcare organizations nationwide.

The healthcare field can accelerate its efforts to diversify its workforce, leadership teams and governing boards, and contribute to improved patient care for all, by helping to strengthen inclusion in healthcare organizations. Learn more and register today.
