Help Shape ACHE’s Policy Statements: Comments Due July 20
Each year, select Policy Statements are reviewed to ensure their continued relevance to the field. Many of these statements are derived directly from comments you have shared with us. For that reason, we are asking for your input. Please take a moment to read the five Policy Statements, including one Ethical Policy Statement, under review this year:
- Considering the Value of Experienced Healthcare Executives Regardless of Age
- Creating an Ethical Culture Within the Healthcare Organization
- Healthcare Executives' Role in Emergency Management
- Increasing and Sustaining Racial/Ethnic Diversity in Healthcare Management
- Preventing and Addressing Workplace Abuse: Inappropriate and Disruptive Behavior
Please submit your comments to PolicyReview@ache.org. The deadline for submitting comments is July 20, 2020. The Board of Governors will discuss these statements and any recommended revisions during its November meeting. The revised statements will be posted on ache.org by the end of the year.
CMS: Interoperability Pilot to Help Reduce Provider Burden
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services is encouraging providers to participate in an interoperability pilot to test specific medical documentation use cases. The Electronic Medical Documentation Interoperability Program is designed to reduce provider burden by assembling a robust network of stakeholders willing to:
- Pilot test use cases
- Participate in gap analysis
- Contribute to resource documentation for new adopters
Participants will have an opportunity to test interoperable solutions by piloting one or more of three use cases:
- Ordering
- Requesting additional medical documentation from another provider
- Requesting physician signatures
Those interested in partnering or learning more about the program can email EMDI_TEAM@scopeinfotechinc.com.

New Book: Patient No Longer
“The coronavirus pandemic has validated the principles of this book: that we need healthcare with no address, helping people where they are and when they need it,” writes Stephen K. Klasko, MD, in the preface to his book, Patient No Longer: Why Healthcare Must Deliver the Care Experience That Consumers Want and Expect. In this new release from Health Administration Press, Klasko, president, Thomas Jefferson University, and CEO, Jefferson Health, and co-author Ryan Donohue, program director, National Research Corporation, explore the evolving delivery model of patient-centric care and the rise of the healthcare consumer as a powerful new voice. They provide compelling reasons why consumer-centric care is so crucial, and how leaders can work to build health systems focused on it. Order your copy today.
