New Joint Commission CEO Shares Top Priorities

“Now is the time to actively work on establishing continuity between community public health and healthcare delivery,” says Jonathan B. Perlin, MD, PhD, the new president/CEO of The Joint Commission in a recent Q&A with the Journal of Healthcare Management. The need to improve health equity will be a priority in his new role, says Perlin, previously president of clinical operations and CMO at HCA Healthcare. Other issues he’ll focus on include the workforce and new models of care, and environmental sustainability and decarbonization.

In another feature in the July/August issue, Brenda Battle, RN, senior vice president, community health transformation, and chief diversity, equity and inclusion officer, shares University of Chicago Medicine’s successes in increasing its diversity, reflecting its community and providing better care.

Run for Regent

ACHE has an election process for new Regents to serve on its Council of Regents, the legislative body that represents ACHE’s more than 48,000 members. Serving as an elected official is a unique opportunity that allows you to exercise your leadership ability, share innovative ideas and act on behalf of ACHE members. The term begins March 2023 and ends March 2026.

All Fellows in the open jurisdictions are eligible to run for Regent. Please review the position description for geographic Regents and federal sector Regents before applying.
