Welcome to Patient Safety Awareness Week
Improving healthcare safety requires leaders who are committed and will take a stand to achieve the highest standards of safety
ACHE is dedicated to amplifying the importance of safety and serving as a catalyst for the field of healthcare management. Our leadership development expertise offers healthcare leaders the foundational tools to build, measure and sustain cultures of safety in the workplace.
Our initiative Leading for Safety is a good place to begin Patient Safety Awareness Week, which runs until Saturday. Here, you can take the We Lead for Safety pledge and assess your organization’s safety culture through a self-assessment. Below are more patient safety resources to consider:
- The current March/April Healthcare Executive is our patient safety issue, which includes two safety-focused feature articles that together help advance the patient safety agenda.
- Leading a Culture of Safety: A Blueprint for Success is a downloadable guide jointly developed by ACHE and the IHI Lucian Leape Institute to provide CEOs and senior leaders with a tool to both assess and advance their organizations’ culture of safety. So far, nearly 10,500 have been downloaded.
- IHI recently released a white paper, Framework for Effective Board Governance of Health System Quality in which ACHE is listed throughout as a collaborator and thought leader. The link provides a description of what the paper is and how the framework will be useful.
- You are encouraged to visit our patient safety Thought Leadership page, which includes numerous articles and links to a variety of safety topics, ideas and commentary.
Congratulations to Our New Regents and Regents-At-Large
Nineteen healthcare executives have been elected to serve three-year terms as Regents. In addition, three Regents were appointed to represent members on an interim basis in the District of Columbia & Northern Virginia, Georgia and North Carolina, and one Regent-at-Large was appointed on an interim basis for District 5.
The Regents took office Saturday, March 2, at the Council of Regents Meeting preceding ACHE's 62nd Congress on Healthcare Leadership. Click here for more details.
Spring Issue of Frontiers of Health Services Management Available
The latest edition of Frontiers is online, focusing on achieving cost of care with price transparency. How can organizations make decisions to support transformation and improve quality based on inaccurate cost computation? True costs—identified with the right data and analytics—must be calculated before price transparency can be achieved. The spring issue's authors thoroughly explore this topic, providing you with vital information to incorporate into your organizational goals.
Published four times a year, Frontiers is committed to providing members with in-depth features and thought-provoking commentaries. Each issue focuses on a single healthcare management theme, drawing on the expertise of expert practitioners and scholars.
Free access to Frontiers is a benefit for members. Read the current full issue by logging in with your ACHE username and password.
