Monthly Membership Perk:

Hitting the Reset Button—Aligning Leadership Teams to Combat Organizational Languishing

Because of the severity and persistence of the COVID-19 pandemic, waves of languishing and burnout strongly impacted healthcare workers. Interestingly, healthcare leaders have shared the unusual observation that their leadership teams felt most unified when they were handling acute phases of the pandemic. These teams are now referring to the acuity settling into place as the new standard operating procedure—with teams that are fatigued and working together sub-optimally, as “organizational languishing.”

Available now at no charge, members can view the online session “Hitting the Reset Button: Aligning Leadership Teams to Combat Organizational Languishing,” which will investigate concepts such as burnout among administrative healthcare leadership teams and the challenges and risks implied when left unaddressed.

This webinar examines ideas and support that leaders can apply to realign and refresh themselves, their team members and their organizations to move toward a prosperous and sustainable future based on experiences of a state health officer, an academic medicine human resources executive and a physician/healthcare management consultant.

These recordings usually cost members $49 from the On-Demand Recorded Library but as the Monthly Membership Perk for May, this session is free of charge through June 13; simply enter the discount code MAYPERK2024 when you register online. For related, supplemental or other topics of interest, be sure to browse the full ACHE on-demand digital learning catalog.

We hope you enjoy this Monthly Membership Perk, and we thank you for being a part of the ACHE community.

Improve Patient Safety and Alleviate Workforce Burnout With Connected Healthcare Operations

As healthcare workers’ well-being remains a top patient safety concern for leadership, a new approach to alleviating burnout and empowering teams to focus on their shared mission of delivering safer care has emerged.

Although the healthcare industry generates 30% of the world’s data, most of it is kept within departments out of reach from the rest of the organization, hindering its ability to predict and prevent safety incidents across the enterprise. This disconnect limits proactivity and adds to the administrative burden on care teams, increasing burnout among an already-strained workforce and elevating the risk of harm and patient safety incidents.

Connecting healthcare operations at the enterprise level empowers organizations to harness actionable data and insightful analytics to break down information silos and improve safety, accuracy and efficiency across the continuum of care. Through connected healthcare operations, health systems can enable safer care for patients and care teams alike. This approach, driven by a shared vision of high reliability and real-time insights across an organization, brings a whole new reality to the forefront of healthcare operations.
