Leadership Spotlight: Leading Together Through COVID-19
“Effective leaders are at their best during difficult times, drawing on our experience to respond, rather than react,” writes ACHE CEO and President Deborah J. Bowen, FACHE, CAE, in the May/June issue of Healthcare Executive. In her most recent “Perspectives” column, Bowen reinforces the importance of communication and innovation when leading through a crisis, and she underscores the fact that leadership is a team effort.

CMS: Billing Requirements Relaxed for Some Lab Tests
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services is relaxing billing requirements for a limited number of laboratory tests required for a COVID-19 diagnosis. Any healthcare professional authorized under state law may order these tests. Medicare will pay for these tests without a written order from the treating physician or other practitioner:
- If an order is not written, you do not need to provide the National Provider Identifier of the ordering or referring professional on the claim.
- If an order is written, include the NPI of the ordering or referring professional, consistent with current billing guidelines.
For more information:
- Laboratory tests with modified requirements.
- Interim final rule.
