Expanding Footprint With Medical Outpatient Buildings
Healthcare providers are rapidly expanding outpatient services, fueling innovation and increasing medical outpatient occupancy. JLL's “2025 Medical Outpatient Building Perspective” identifies five key themes impacting owners and operators.
- Leading the way: Health systems and corporate medical groups are leading the shift to outpatient care.
- Competitive market: Rising occupancy and limited construction for purpose-built MOBs may cause increased spillover into adjacent property types.
- Growing net operating income: Steady rent growth and escalations provide growing net operating income in medical outpatient space.
- Eyes on the Sunbelt markets: Population growth is driving expansion in Sunbelt markets, but established brands also bolster growth.
- Stability in an evolving sector: Medical buildings continue to offer stability for investors, and health systems also see benefits to ownership.
As the healthcare landscape evolves, providers must balance expansion with cost efficiency. JLL's research highlights the importance of strategic site selection, considering factors such as patient demographics, insurance coverage and proximity to other services.
For healthcare executives seeking to optimize their real estate strategy and increase patient access, JLL's report provides valuable insights into the future of this sector.

Maintaining High Standards of Conduct
The Code of Ethics guides healthcare executives in their responsibilities to patients and individuals served, their organization, employees, community and society, and to the profession at large.
Healthcare executives are asked to embody an exemplary system of values and ethics. They also have an obligation to act in ways that will merit the trust, confidence and respect of healthcare professionals, staff and the general public.
Since many leadership decisions affect the health and well-being of both individuals and communities, healthcare executives must carefully evaluate the possible outcomes of their decisions. They are also called to take action, when necessary to promote the rights and interests of others.
ACHE members also have a duty to communicate with the Ethics Committee when they have reasonable grounds to believe that another member has violated this Code.
