Program Spotlight:

Health Law in 2023: Looking Ahead

By this time next week, the midterm elections should be decided and we will know more about the direction of healthcare in 2023. For now, some of the questions that loom large include whether President Biden’s healthcare agenda will continue or be hindered (and possibly reversed) by a new GOP-controlled Congress. The Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade has resulted in vast differences in access to abortion and related services; are states recognizing legal processes, such as subpoenas, convictions and restrictions on telemedicine across borders? What are the priorities of the Department of Health and Human Services in the new year, and how can healthcare executives plan and prepare for them?

These are just some of the issues that legal expert Sarah F. Fontenot, JD, will review during the timely Dec. 1 webinar “Health Law in 2023: Looking Ahead.” Those who attend this webinar can earn 1 ACHE Qualified Education credit while also learning about the status of rural healthcare, hospital closures, the nursing shortage and concerns for the health and future of the workforce. You won’t want to miss this informative webinar—learn more and register today.

Strategizing for an Uncertain Future

“At its heart, strategy deals with an unknown future,” writes Jim Austin in Chapter 1 of his book, Transformative Planning: How Your Healthcare Organization Can Strategize for an Uncertain Future. “Strategic planning,” he continues, “should be the one opportunity to challenge past actions and assess a range of future investments to establish a path forward into the ever-evolving future … Unfortunately, most strategic planning efforts accomplish little more than incremental changes to past activities, even when faced with challenges that are radically different than those encountered in the past.”

Throughout his book, Austin shares essential frameworks, tools and processes for developing and implementing long-term strategic and execution plans that embrace uncertainty, helping leadership teams lay the groundwork for new, transformational healthcare delivery models.

Austin will share similar strategies during the seminar “Leading Transformational Change” at the Orlando Cluster, Dec. 5–8. Worth 6 ACHE Face-to-Face Education credits, this seminar will help leaders prioritize how best to improve current operations while investing in new markets and capabilities for sustainable growth. Learn more about all of the seminars offered during this in-person event, and register today.
