“I think members of the LGBTQ+ community have a major opportunity given that we recognize the positive impact of diversity in effective organizations. We also have the opportunity to set new norms in the care of LGBTQ+ patients. For example, many elderly members of the LGBTQ+ community age alone and are fearful of the healthcare system. We need healthcare delivery systems that understand the unique needs of the LGBTQ+ patient population and so, as LGBTQ+ leaders or LGBTQ+ champions, it is our obligation to create and foster this awareness to improve patient care and patient outcomes.”
