SAMUEL L. ODLE, FACHE, ELECTED CHAIRMAN-ELECT OF AMERICAN COLLEGE OF HEALTHCARE EXECUTIVES

CHICAGO, February 28, 2004—Samuel L. Odle, FACHE, senior vice president, Clarian Health, and chief administrative officer for Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis, has been elected Chairman-Elect of the American College of Healthcare Executives, an international professional society of 30,000 healthcare executives.

Odle took office today at the Council of Regents Meeting during ACHE's 47th Congress on Healthcare Management at the Hyatt Regency Chicago. As Chairman-Elect, he will serve the first part of a three-year term in ACHE's consecutive chairmanship offices: Chairman-Elect, Chairman, and Immediate Past-Chairman.

Board certified in healthcare management and an ACHE Fellow, Odle served as an ACHE Governor from 2001 to 2004. Prior to that, he was the ACHE Regent-at-Large for District 4 from 1997 to 2001.

Odle is responsible for clinical and support services across the entire Clarian Health system and serves as the chief administrative officer for Methodist Hospital, a 900-bed teaching hospital affiliated with the Indiana University School of Medicine. Odle began his career at Winona Memorial Hospital in Indianapolis in 1970. After serving in progressive positions in the radiology department there, he became assistant administrator of Administrative and Professional Services for Winona in 1978. In 1979, he was named vice president of Professional Services and Medical Staff Affairs, a position he held until 1981. He then joined Methodist Hospital of Indiana, Inc., as vice president of Operations, later serving as vice president of Professional Services and senior vice president and chief operating officer.

Odle is chairman of the board for the Indianapolis Department of Waterworks and also serves on the boards of the Indianapolis Regional Economic Development Corporation, the Indiana University School of Nursing, and Union Planters Bank. In addition, he is a member of the National Association of Health Services Executives and the Black and Minority Health Advisory Committee. In 1990, Odle received the National Emerging Leader in Healthcare Award from The Healthcare Forum (now Health Forum, an American Hospital Association company).

Odle received his master's degree in hospital administration and his bachelor's degree in allied health education from Indiana University, Indianapolis.

He is married to Alexis Odle and has three daughters: Tiffany, Olivia, and Montgomery.
