MARK
ALAN HUDSON, FACHE, ELECTED TO AMERICAN COLLEGE OF HEALTHCARE
EXECUTIVES BOARD OF GOVERNORS
CHICAGO,
March 12, 2005—Mark
Alan Hudson, FACHE, executive vice president, Cleveland County
HealthCare System, Shelby, NC, has been elected to serve on
the Board of Governors of the American College of Healthcare
Executives, an international professional society of 30,000
healthcare executives.
Hudson
took office today at the Council of Regents Meeting during
ACHE’s 48th Congress on Healthcare Management at the
Hilton Chicago. He will serve a three-year term representing
ACHE affiliates on ACHE’s Board of Governors, the authority
that oversees ACHE operations and member services.
Hudson
has served as executive vice president of Cleveland County
HealthCare System since 2003, following a corporate reorganization
that integrated the care provided by Cleveland Regional Medical
Center, Shelby, NC, and Kings Mountain (NC) Hospital. Hudson
is responsible for healthcare enterprise operations as well
as development of system-wide programs for corporate compliance,
privacy, internal audit, construction, and administrative
standards.
Prior
to his current position, Hudson served in positions of progressive
responsibility at Cleveland Regional Medical Center in Shelby,
NC. He began his career at CRMC as vice president of Ancillary
Services in 1983, moved to vice president of Professional
Services in 1987, and was promoted to chief operating officer
in 1995. In 1999, he served as vice president of Administrative
Services during reorganization of the hospital’s move
to product line management; he also served as corporate compliance
officer. From 2001 to 2003 Hudson was vice president and chief
administrative officer in conjunction with hospital-wide reorganization;
he moved to executive vice president of CRMC in September
2003, shortly before being named executive vice president
of the system.
Prior
to being elected an ACHE Governor, Hudson was the ACHE Regent
for Western North Carolina from 2001 to 2005. He is adjunct
faculty and preceptor of the administrative residency program
at Virginia Commonwealth University and has held several leadership
positions with the American Society of Healthcare Risk Management.
He is a past chairman of the North Carolina Hospital Association
District 3 and the Metrolina Healthcare Executives Forum.
Hudson has also served on many civic boards, including the
Hospice of Cleveland County, Cleveland Ambulatory Services,
Cleveland Home Health Agency, and Mental Health Association
of Cleveland County. He is an American Leadership Forum Senior
Fellow and serves on the board of directors for Crawley Memorial
Hospital, Boiling Springs, NC. He is also an active writer,
with more than 500 published articles and poems covering a
wide variety of topics.
Board
certified in healthcare management and an ACHE Fellow, Hudson
received his master’s degree in health administration
from the Medical College of Virginia, Virginia Commonwealth
University, Richmond, and his bachelor’s degree in American
urban studies from the University of Virginia, Charlottesville.
